Texas continues to be friendly for Utah as they reeled in another speedster from the Lone Star State. This one is athlete Troy McCormick, who made his verbal pledge to the Utes public on Tuesday.
"I did commit to Utah. I actually committed to them back at the end of my season in December, but we kept it quiet."
McCormick is the sixth member of the Utah recruiting class from Texas and more are likely on the way.
"Coach Scalley told me about the players that have come from Texas to Utah. That was something I liked."
McCormick put up impressive stats in 2012 with 1,700 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns despite his team's disappointing 3-7 record.
"We didn't have the season we wanted, but we played hard and I was able to put up some pretty good stats. "
The 5-9, 175 pounder will run track this spring, but has already proven to be one of the fastest runners in the state posting a time in the 100 meter dash last year.
"I will be running track, but I'm concentrating mostly on football, putting on some more weight, but trying to get faster at the same time before I get to Utah this summer."
When he does get on campus, McCormick will get to play both on offense and special teams.
"I'll be at running back. I think if I work hard I can compete for that starting spot. I'm also going to be returning kicks."
