Utah Goes After Big JC Offensive Lineman

Pearce Slater is a big boy with tons of upside and Utah ties

You can never have enough playable depth on the offensive line, and Utah wants to make sure they're in a good spot heading into 2014. To do that, they'll need another JC offensive lineman, and Pearce Slater may be that guy.

"My recruitment has been going good. I've got offers from Texas Tech, Kansas, Utah, and Arizona State."

With four BCS offers on the books, Slater is doing his research before naming a leader.

"So far I like all of the schools that have offered. No one is really standing out from the rest. To be honest, I don't know a ton about the schools, but I'm trying to learn more."

With Utah throwing an offer out recently, Slater is getting to know about the school through a current Ute player.

"They offered about three weeks ago. I know they're a good up and coming program. I'm also good friends with Lucky Radley. We went to the same high school and he's told me how it's a great place and that I'd like it there."

Utah will have two senior offensive line starters in 2013 so the chance to come in right away is there, and that's important to Slater.

"I'm looking for somewhere that I can play right away and a school with solid academics."

The 6-6, 330 pounder plans is an early entry candidate and doesn't want his recruitment to drag on much longer.

"I'll be graduating in December and then enrolling in spring ball with 3 years to play 2 so I want to make a decision before my season starts to get it out of the way."
