Hartzog Is Lucky Number Six

Houston area athlete Bobby Hartzog flips from the Cougars to the Utes

Utah picked up their sixth commitment in the 2014 class with athlete Bobby Hartzog jumping aboard.

"I did commit to Utah. It has a real strong family environment and is the best fit for me. I've always liked Utah and when they offered a few weeks ago, I was really excited."

Hartzog had committed to Houston earlier this month, but once the bigger name program in Utah came around, he decided that playing alongside former high school teammate and incoming freshman Hipolito Corporan was too much to pass up.

"Playing with Hipolito wasn't a deal breaker or anything, but is a big plus and I'm excited to play with him. It'll be nice to know someone when I get out there."

The 5-10.5, 185 pounder was committed to Houston as a receiver, but will end up as a cornerback for the Utes when he makes it to Salt Lake City.

"I had 700 yards and 10 touchdowns as a receiver last year. I've never played defense before, but will be playing corner this season."

The relationship he had built with Morgan Scalley was a big selling point for Hartzog.

"We have a real close relationship. Coach Scalley said he'll definitely be taking care of me."

Along with Houston, Hartzog also had offers from Arkansas State, Iowa State, Texas State, and Texas-San Antonio, but indicated that his recruitment is over.

"I'm shutting it down. Utah is where I want to be and where I'll be going. I've been learning a ton about the school and will be visiting later in the summer or in the fall."
