You can never have enough linemen, something Utah has addressed heavily in past recruiting classes. Now they're looking to the future and guys like 2015 prospect Andre James out of Herriman (UT).
James picked up his first offer last weekend from the Utes shortly after his unofficial visit for the Weber State game.
"We went to the game and had a great time. Afterwards Coach Whittingham talked to me and offered me a scholarship."
James has strong ties to the utah football program and wouldn't be the first family member to have strapped on a Ute uniform.
"The Utes are a big school for me and a great offer. My grandpa (Edward James) played on the defensive line there in the 70s and they have a great coaching staff. Coach Sitake is a really cool dude and the facilities are really nice. I attended their camp up there and really liked it."
While the 6-5 265 pounder is ok with leaving the state, staying home is also intriguing, but the family and welcoming atmosphere will be most important when he makes a commitment.
"I'm just looking for a place that is a home away from home. My parents are being very supportive and want whatever is best for me."
Even with the early offer and interest from Utah State, Wisconsin, and Oregon, James will be taking his time.
"I'm not in a rush to decide. I want to wait a bit longer and will probably commit during my senior season."
