Isaiah Renfro, 2015 WR/Safety from Sierra Canyon HS, received his first offer earlier this week from Utah. The 6'3" 190 pound junior is a nightmare for opposing offenses and defenses as Renfro's physicality on both sides of the ball makes him one of the top players in California.
To back up a very impressive sophomore season where Renfro was named to the 1st Team-All State Sophomore team, Renfro continued to light up the box scores with his 70 receptions, 1302 yards, and 20 TD's this season.
With the offer from Utah coming in earlier this week, the Utes have put themselves in an excellent position with Renfro, and although he doesn't have any favorites right now, he told me "I'm partial to Utah though because they were my first offer and the first ones who believed in what I can do. Utah is a great school where I can play big PAC-12 ball and still get an education. I would love to visit up there and see the campus and catch a game next year to get a feel for the atmosphere."
Renfro and Brian Johnson have developed a good relationship over the past couple of months, and hears from Johnson and the Utes 2-3 times a week.
Although Utah is his only offer right now, Cal, Michigan State and BYU are showing heavy interest.
Getting a good education is very important to Renfro, and is the first thing he looks for in a school. Along with a good education, Renfro is looking for a school where he fits best, and how soon he can get on the field will also play a role in landing the 4 star WR/Safety.
When asked about the strengths of his game, "I would say I'm a big, physical, fast guy, and I'll go up and get any ball that's near me. I also take pride in my blocking and getting my running back in the endzone!".
