Branden Bowen is huge and Utah found him first. The giant offensive line recruit from Corner Canyon High School in Utah is starting to see his recruitment blow up.
"My recruitment is going great. It's been a great experience and a lot of fun so far."
The Utes jumped in first and extended an offer last week, something that means a lot to Bowen.
"I was so excited when I got the offer from Utah. Definitely a big offer for me. I've been a Utah fan since I moved here when I was nine and to get an offer from my hometown schools is an honor."
The big man has been up to Utah practices a couple of times and already has current commits trying to get him to pull the trigger.
"I had a long conversation with Tuli (Wily-Matagi). He had me loving Utah and I was close to committing. I decided I wanted to go through the process a littler longer and most likely will commit at the beginning of my senior season."
Other west coast schools have also been in touch with the 6-7, 315 pounder.
"Along with the offer from Utah, I've also been hearing from Colorado, Washington State, San Diego State, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and Arizona State."
Bowen knows what he wants in a school at the next level, and that starts with a solid education.
"I have a top 3 list of things I want in a school and it starts with education. Next is the chance to play early and third is team unity. I talked to Jackson Barton and he told me that as soon as he got on campus the entire team welcomed him and made him feel at home right away. That's big for me."
Even with all of that size, Bowen sees himself as someone that moves well.
"I think my strengths are my agility and intelligence. I move pretty well for someone my size. I want to start playing bigger though. I've been training with former Ute John Madsen and working hard."
As for Utah, the relationship Bowen has and is developing with the coaching staff has been a big plus in his eyes so far.
"Coach Tuiaki is my main recruiter and I talk to him a lot. Pretty much every other day. I'm als being recruited by Coach Harding. He's a very good coach and a great guy. I absolutely love talking with him."
So where does Utah sit with Bowen at the end of the day? In a pretty good spot.
"I love Utah. They are definitely my frontrunner."
