It didn't take long for defensive lineman Greg Rogers to receive his first offer, as Utah extended the talented freshman an offer on Friday afternoon, giving Rogers his first, but certainly not his last. "Receiving that offer from Utah is very exciting. It's one of the few things that I have been working so hard to get toward, and being able to score this offer from such a great school is great. Words can't even explain that happiness and how I am as of right now." Rogers burst on to the scene at the Pylon 7 on 7 camp, as he showed to be one of the most dominant linemen at the camp, even though he's only a freshman. With Utah being the first to offer him, Rogers has already taken notice of one Utah's strongest traditions, sending defensive lineman to the NFL. "Playing in the NFL is a big dream of mine and if I have a hardworking staff that's gonna push me to my full potential so that I get to that stage in life, than Utah can be a big fit for me."
Rogers is still pretty unfamiliar with the Utah football program, but hailing from Centennial High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, Rogers has taken notice that Utah has had success sending Las Vegas natives to the NFL. "I know a couple things about Utah, but not much. I do know they're in the PAC 12 and have lots of potential to be great though. They also had another Las Vegas native that played there, Stevenson Sylvester. I know about him and he now plays on the Steelers. He was a big part of Utah's team when he played there." Being a little unfamiliar with the Utah program, Rogers is going to try and attend a camp in Salt Lake City this year, even though he has other plans as of right now. "I have a camp with UNLV & UCLA, but since I got this offer, I'll probably switch it up and replace UCLA with Utah."
With Signing Day 2017 being a long ways away, Rogers isn't in any hurry to make a final decision but he does have some things that he'll be looking for in a school, including some current favorites. "The things I'm looking for in a school are academics, great game day atmosphere, good coaches and somewhere close to home. As of right now, Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and USC are my favorite schools." With his first offer now out of the way, expect a lot more schools to throw their name in the hat for Rogers, as he's also hearing early on from Washington, Florida State and others. It's safe to say that Greg Rogers is going to be one of the most sought after recruits on the West Coast come 2017.
