Erickson To Land Blandin Twice?

WR Josiah Blandin signed with Dennis Erickson at ASU in 2012. Could he sign with DE again at Utah?

We hear it all the time in recruiting; relationships, relationships, relationships. Utah may not have anyone better on the coaching staff at developing and maintaining relationships than Dennis Erickson. With his current position with the utes, the former Arizona State coach currently gets to go against many players he signed as the head man of the Sun Devils. Now he may get the chance to coach one of those players in Josiah Blandin.

After a redshirt year at ASU in 2012, Blandin went the junior college route, which now has him as one of the top JC receiving targets in the country. Schools are taking notice, including Erickson's Utes.

"I'm really liking Utah. It's mostly about my relationship with Coach Erickson. He's the reason why I committed to ASU. He was the most consistent coach during my recruitment in what he told me."

Erickson as a coach at Utah is making the former 3 star think long and hard about joining the Utes.

"Him at Utah is important to me. They have a great school and are in a great conference. The team really throws the ball around a lot, but Coach Erickson being there is what stands out the most to me."

The 6-5, 202 pounder made a trip out to Salt Lake City last month and enjoyed his time on campus.

"My visit to Utah for the spring game was great. I got a lot of love from the coaches and from the fans. It was a good experience to learn more about what Utah has to offer."

With less time to develop once he arrives on campus because of his JC stint, Blandin wants to be able to get on the field right away.

"Academics are important me as well as an opportunity to play. I'm looking for a school that has an offensive system I can excel in."

While the Utes were looking good just a few months ago, new schools have jumped into the mix with offers including Colorado and Illinois, making things more complicated.

"I can't name a favorite right now, but I plan on cutting down my list at some point. I can't wait forever because I'm a mid-year enrollee and will be signing in December."

Blandin will have two years to play two and will participate in spring ball 2015 for the school of his choice.
