PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Smith, Matt Asiata and Steve Smith all had huge days yesterday, but the nod goes to the Senior Steve Smith. He told the world earlier this year that there would be ‘blood and guts everywhere’ when he was released by the Panthers and signed by the Ravens. If you don’t think he was fired up- check out this video of Steve Smith during week one.
Everyone on the Ravens played with a little extra fire for Steve Smith and multiple teammates expressed that they knew how important this game was for Steve Smith. It clearly showed- the 35 year old Steve Smith toyed with the Ravens secondary posting HOF numbers: 7 catches, 139 yards and 2 TDs. After the game Steve Smith had another quotable-quote: "That film was a coaching session, I'm 35 years old, and I ran around them boys like they were school-yard kids."
Full video of Steve Smith’s highlights can be seen on NFL.com here.
PLAY OF THE WEEK
Go watch reruns of Steve Smith’s first half against the Panthers and you’ll see this fortuitous tip ball that Steve Smith Sr. was able to coral and take to the house. I’m not sure what route Steve was running here, or if it was miscommunication with Flacco, but sometimes if you’re in the right spot at the right time, good things happen.
A solid consolation pick for this week is Eric Weddle’s pick against Blake Bortles and the Jags. San Diego may just be the best team in the AFC West (saying something considering they had three playoff teams last year) and they are getting better and better each week. EW has been a beast this season making plays all over the field.
VIDEO OF THE WEEK
Ravens locker room after the blowout win over the Panthers. Coach Harbaugh singles out Steve Smith and gave him the floor to address the team. Video can be seen here.
TWEETS OF THE WEEK
Good things usually come in multiples- like these four after the Chargers vs Jaguars game in San Diego. Some serious Utah star power here.
Steve Smith was a little fired up to play the Panthers today. Just a little.
One more Steve Smith gem. I heart his hat.
FANTASY OF THE WEEK
Pretty solid day yesterday for UtesInTheNFL
Alex Smith, Matt Asiata and Steve Smith finished with a combined 73 fantasy points this week. If you were lucky enough to have all three former Utes on your team this week- congrats on the win.
