Fulks Finds Future Home At Utah

JC athlete Kyle Fulks commits to Utah as the Ute recruiting trains keeps chugging along

Utah's 2015 recruiting class continues to come together nicely as they picked up their 7th commitment in ten days with athlete Kyle Fulks out of Blinn Junior College pulling the trigger Wednesday night.

"I talked it over with my parents and my coach and figured that since I haven't played this season and have decided to sit the year out now, that it was the right time for me to commit. After visiting Utah I felt that it was the perfect fit for me."

Recruited by Morgan Scalley, Fulks gave the safeties coach a nice present.

"He was ecstatic when I committed. It was his birthday, which I didn't know, and he said it was a great birthday present."

The official visit that Fulks took two weeks ago really helped seal the deal.

"I loved everything about Utah. Coming from Texas, we don't have mountains like that and I really liked the city. The facilities are amazing and they're really starting to do good things. The fans and the atmosphere there are great."

Fulks was able to catch the Utes' big win over UCLA this past weekend and enjoyed what he saw.

"The game was awesome. It was great to see them bounce back like that after losing to Washington State and go into the Rose Bowl and beat UCLA."

Fulks' 2014 season had been up in the air due to an injury, but he'll use his redshirt year this season and have 3 to play 3 when arriving at Utah as an athlete that could end up on either side of the ball.

"I'm going to come in as an athlete, but I'll probably end up on defense as a corner. With Eric Rowe leaving, the coaches said that they needed a starting corner for next season and I could come in and compete for that spot."

Fulks won't be an early enrollee as he still has coursework to complete, but has a task ahead of him in trying to get one of his teammates to Salt Lake City as well.

"I still have one more semester to complete after this so I'm not going to be at Utah until next summer. Now I'm talking to Dede Westbrook and trying to get him to come to Utah with me."
