Utah Continues Dominant Ways

The Utes slaughter the Buffaloes to stay perfect in Pac 12 play

Another Pac 12 game. Another pounding by Utah. They manhandled Colorado on both ends and showed that not only is this team a contender for the Pac 12 title, but they're a Final 4 contender.

What We Liked
-The Defense. Colorado went long stretches in both halves without scoring. Utah played them perfectly.
-Transition offense. The Utes got out in transition often, turning Colorado turnovers into easy buckets.
-3 point shooting. 9 of 22 for 40.9% will get the job done from deep.
-The freshmen. Chapman, Poeltl, and Kuzma all had very efficient nights.
-The starting guards. Both Taylor and Wright were excellent on both ends.
-Larry. Coach Kyrstkowiak coached a great game and then gave individual credit to each of his assistants in the post game press conference. He knows that they're of huge value to the program and wanted to make sure that they are recognized.

What We Didn't Like
-Loveridge disappeared. Jordan Loveridge continues his boom or bust career. After a couple of very good performances, he had an off-night with no field goals and only 2 points. Wasn't needed, but it continues a trend we've seen for three years now.
-Fouling 3 point shooters. Askia Booker got his defender in the air a couple of times on three point attempts and drew fouls. Can't foul on a 3.
-Early second half defense. Too many early transition hoops and wide open looks for Colorado coming out of the break. Utah clamped down and the Buffs went cold after the first few, but we've seen other teams do similar things now as well starting the second half against the Utes.

What's Next
An extended break followed by a road trip to the desert where they'll open with ASU before the big battle in Tucson. Can't overlook the Devils and be looking ahead to the Wildcats. Conference road games are never as easy as they seem.
