Junior college receivers were good to Utah in the 2014 class. Will 2016 be the same? It might be if they can land talented Chaffey (CA) Community College pass catcher Alec Dana, who picked up his first offer on Monday.
"I talked to Coach (Dennis) Erickson and he said that they wanted to offer me. I really like Coach Erickson. He's a legend and we're building our relationship. My family also knows Coach Shah really well."
Utah is Dana's first offer, but more could be on the way.
"I've been talking to a lot of schools like Cal, Nebraska, Washington State, and Texas Tech. I have some family out near Texas Tech."
A trip to Salt Lake City for Horne could be in the future.
"I've never visited Utah, but I'm hoping to make a visit out there. I know all about Dres Anderson and I was told that they have great facilities."
The 6-3, 195 pounder is looking for two things above all others when he makes a decision, and hopes to do so in the fall after a few trips.
"I'm looking for a school with great coaching and they like to throw the ball around. I want to narrow my list to four or five, take my visits, and then decide."
Dana is a mid-year enrollee and plans on participating in spring ball 2016 where he ends up.
"I'm on track with all of my academics and will be ready for spring ball next season."
