Horne Is A Late Addition

Utah lands a very late pledge to the 2015 class in Marcus Horne

It's been almost a month since national signing day, but the Utes apparently weren't done with the 2015 class as they picked up a commitment from Arizona Western College running back Marcus Horne after an official visit.

"I committed on my official visit this weekend to Coach Harding. I've known him since his time at Wyoming so we already had a relationship. Utah is a great opportunity and I'm excited to be coming in. They're building something special and I want to be a part of it."

Horne comes from a family that produced one of the greatest prep players and highly recruited athletes of all time.

"My uncle is Marcus Dupree and he played with Coach Whittingham, so there was already a relationship there."

Horne got to spend time around Utah's feature back for 2014 and is excited to play with him next season.

"I spent most of the weekend with Book (Devontae Booker) and we're going to be a really tough duo. We've also got guys like Poole and Troy. It's going to be hard to stop us next year."

The 5-11, 225 pounder was a former Spartan, but some grades got in the way, and he's taken a long path to get to Salt Lake City.

"I left Michigan State because I had some academic issues. Then I ended up at Arizona Western. I was going to sign with UNLV last month, but things changed when their entire staff was fired. I was thinking I was going to go to a FCS school, but then Utah wanted to bring me in."

On track to graduate this May, Horne expects to compete for time as soon as he gets on campus.

"I'll be coming out in the summer and be ready to compete and contribute right away. I feel like I fit perfectly into the offense and can be a short yardage guy, or even a slasher."

Horne says he will be a 3 to play 2 player.
