The USR staff makes their picks for the big showdown between Utah and Oregon

A healthy Travis Wilson will be able to challenge the struggling Oregon secondary and Devontae Booker is good for atleast 150 all purpose yards, but it's a tall task for the defense to shut down the vaunted Oregon offense. Though its unclear if Vernon Adams will play, Oregon's balance of speed in the edge with their receivers, and power up the middle with Royce Freeman is tough to stop. Ducks win a close game where Utah fails to recover an onside kick with just two minutes left after cutting the lead to 4.

Oregon is currently tied for # 8 in the country for overall offense, they are electric and explosive with weapons at every skill position, with Vernon Adams likely back this week they become even more dangerous. However, they are tied for # 109 for overall defense and their offensive line is suspect. While the Utes will have a tall task to pull off an upset in Autzen, they actually match up well against the Ducks. A big game from Booker, Wilson, and special teams with the defense creating turnovers, and the Utes pull off the upset.

Oregon's weak defense & Utah's ability to put together long, clock-eating scoring drives together will keep this game close going into the fourth quarter. In the end, Oregon's offense will prove to be too much for Utah on the road. A late drive by Utah to tie the game ends up coming up short on fourth down & the Ducks will kneel the ball to end the game. Utah's inability to throw the ball deep & sack the QB will be glaring weaknesses after the game.

Utah is a popular upset pick by experts this season. Although the Ducks lost Marcus Mariota and a handful of other talented players it doesn't make them any less dangerous due to the fact of their talent at skill positions. Eastern Washington transfer QB Vernon Adams is somewhat of a wild card - especially with him recently breaking a finger, but the Ducks are no pushover. It will take a nearly perfect game for the Utes to go in and beat the Ducks. Utah fans expect to have Travis Wilson back under center, and Devontae Booker will still get a lot of work, but in the end the Ducks offense is just a little too powerful for the talented Utah defense.

Oregon 38 Utah 31

There's been a lot of hoopls surrounding the Utes this week as a trendy upset pick. If this game was at home, I could possibly see it. It's not though as they'll travel to Autzen Stadium. Both teams will trade blows early, but the Oregon speed and a few Utah turnovers will end up being the difference as they continue their streak of home dominance (36 wins of 14+ points at home in last 40 games).
