Utah continues to search for playmakers at wide receiver. Will the 2017 class yield results?

Taking a look at the early 2017 targets at wide receiver

Utah has a lot of young receivers on the roster, but pretty much all of them are unproven or are yet to make an impact. That makes finding impact players in 2017 that much more important. Combine that with the likelihood of some turnover by the time we get to the 2017 season and they'll likely end up taking three to four players, with one coming from the JC level. The current offer list is for some pretty talented prospects, most of whom will go elsewhere, but the Utes are out early trying to make an impression before moving on to the next tier later in the process.

Commits

Jones committed to Utah last summer, giving them the top wide receiver in the state for 2017. He's flirted with other schools during the process and will be in high demand as more schools, including some from the Pac 12, have already thrown their hat in the ring. He's a Ute right now, but it's going to be a battle to hang on to him.

Targets

Jones is the #2 wide receiver in the country and has offers from all over. Utah will try, but he's shown little interest at this point.

Manning is a JC prospect that will end up reclassifying to the 2017 class. He's put up huge numbers at the junior college level and will be someone Utah continues to target.

Lindsey recently transferred from Las Vegas power Bishop Gorman to Southern California monster Corona Centennial. He's one of the fastest players in the 2017 class nationally and an instant impact type of kid, but has shown interest elsewhere early on.

St. Brown has visited Utah unofficially, doing so when his brother, Equanimeous, came out for a visit during the 2015 cycle. This kid is a better prospect than his older bro, and will end up having more options. Utah has the early relationship and will continue to try, but he's not mentioning the Utes at this time.

Manning is a Texas kid with great size that the Utes have offered and are targeting heavily.

Davis is a current Syracuse commit out of Florida, but with a new staff, things will likely change with him over the next couple of months. Utah really likes the kid and will make him a priority.

Rambo is a recent Utah offer with a sweet name, but hasn't shown any interest in the Utes to this point.
