The Utah football program has had some pretty good success over the last few years recruiting in the state of Florida. Thanks to Coach Erickson’s relationships, they’ve been able to mine in the talent rich city of Miami. Recently pulling a recruit like LB Donovan Thompson from Miami Central, a Florida powerhouse. They hope to continue this trend by offering one of Thompson’s former teammates WR Carmoni Green.
The 6’1 180 lb WR has quite a few offers, some notable ones being Illinois, Pitt, UCF, Oregon State, and Utah. “Recruitment is going great, teams are starting to come really hard. I’m hearing from like 10 schools, all pretty equally.” When you watch Carmoni’s tape, it’s easy to see why Utah is after him. “I have the ability to run past guys and get behind the defense. My size play a big role in my game as well.”
Oregon State has been on Carmoni the longest and look to be the early favorite, but the Utes may have an inside track. Donovan Thompson has been in his ear about coming to Utah, as well as recent signee’s Tyler Huntley and Demari Simpkins. “Donovan tells me that Utah is a great place to be. Huntley has started talking to me and I’ve known Demari for a while too. So yeah, they’re always in my ear.”
Utah’s offense hasn’t always been the most WR friendly, but that doesn’t seem to worry Carmoni. “I would love to play for a team that puts it in the air quite a bit, and I know Utah wants to be a team that can score points, and that they also have winning QB’s now.”
When it comes to making a decision, Carmoni is really looking for a team that he fits in with their style of play and that he’s comfortable with. Carmoni is looking to commit in August, but will take his official visits to make sure he’s making the right decision. Coach Erickson and Coach Holliday will have their work cut out for them, but this is a kid well worth their time.
