Utes ready for important visit weekend

It's another important official visit weekend for Utah football, headlined by a visit from quarterback commit Jason Shelley.

Utah football will host its second official visit weekend of the season this weekend as the team plays host to USC. Among the three expected visitors include a Utah commit, a receiver committed to another Pac-12 school, and one of the top JUCO offensive linemen in America. UteZone breaks down the official visitors and what to expect:

Jason Shelley

Recruiting Coach: Guy Holliday

Considering: Utah Commit

Notes: Utah's lone quarterback commit for the class has put up solid numbers in his senior year and will return to SLC for the first time since his mid-summer unofficial visit that convinced him to commit. Shelley has been solid since pulling the trigger for the Utes, and could be an important part of Utah's outreach strategy in Texas, where three of the Utes' four commits hail from, and where the Utes also are targeting several more players.

Jeremy Patton

Recruiting Coach: Fred Whittingham

Considering: Arkansas Commit

Notes: Patton is one of the best tight end prospects in America. The 6-foot-7 inch, 240 pounder is big, fast and athletic and could be a game-changing talent in whatever offense he next plays in. He committed to Arkansas in June after taking an official visit to Fayetteville, but is still exploring his options by taking other official visits. It may be a tall order for the Utes to flip him, but Utah was the first P5 program to offer Patton, and getting him on a visit to Salt Lake City might be enough to make him rethink his decision.

Tyquez Hampton

Recruiting Coach: Guy Holliday

Considering: Washington State Commit, Considering Utah and West Virginia as well

Notes: Hampton has been committed to Washington State since June, but is still exploring the possibility of playing for other schools. He has a strong relationship with Guy Holliday and is particularly interested in seeing the game day atmosphere at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Jason Shelley has been actively recruiting Hampton as well, and a positive experience could go a long way toward convincing him to flip to the Utes. If he does change his commitment, Hampton likely won't do it until after he visits West Virginia later this fall.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story listed Jordan Agasiva as an official visitor this weekend. Agasiva has rescheduled his official to Utah for a later date and will not be on campus this weekend.
