Breaking down the top 2017 recruits on UteZone's radar

It's been an eventful week for the Utes on the recruiting front, as Utah secured commitments from two Texas receivers, bringing the total of committed players for the class of 2017 to five. Although this recruiting class is expected to smaller than previous years, the Utes are still hot on the trail of a number of hot prospects. Here's the latest list of the top prospects on UteZone's radar for the class of 2017:

Top Ten Prospects:

1 - Jay Tufele

Notes: The top recruit in the state of Utah remains the top recruit on the Utes' board. Tufele is a high impact defensive tackle prospect that would be in the mix for a starting spot as a true freshman if he were to sign with the Utes. He is a frequent unofficial visitor to the Utah campus and has been to multiple games this season.

2 - Tayler Katoa

Notes: The four star athlete plays quarterback for Layton, but is being recruited as a linebacker/defensive end. Katoa has terrific size and athleticism and would fit nicely into Utah's front seven. A number of Pac-12 schools have offered.

3 - Jaylon Johnson

Notes: The Army All-American recently took an official visit to Salt Lake City and was wowed by what he saw. Utah has stiff competition in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arizona State and USC, but they'll be in this one until the end.

4 - Michael Richardson

Notes: Richardson is the best offensive lineman in the state of Utah and a top priority on the Utes' board. Washington and Oregon are the biggest contenders besides the Utes for his services.

5 - Alden Tofa

Notes: One of the top defensive linemen in the state of Utah, Tofa is considering Pac-12 programs such as Oregon and Washington as well as the Utes. Likely to serve an LDS mission prior to enrolling.

6 - Cole Clemens

Notes: A big, powerful guard prospect, Clemens earned an offer during UTah's summer elite camp. Clemens is one of the top linemen in the state of Utah, and is considering in-state programs BYU and USU as well.

7 - Jordan Agasiva

Notes: One of the top JUCO offensive linemen in the country, Agasiva will visit Utah officially in the coming weeks. Auburn, TCU and Oregon State are also contenders for the talented lineman.

8 - Tareke Lewis

Notes: Lewis officially visited Utah earlier this month and now includes the Utes among his favorites, along with Maryland. West Virginia is also in the picture. A decision is expected by early December.

9 - Jordan Lolohea

Notes: Another elite line prospect from the state of Utah, Lolohea has Utah among his leaders. Oregon State, BYU and Colorado are also contenders. Lolohea plans on serving an LDS mission before enrolling.

10 - Orlando Umana

Notes: Umana is considering offers from a number of programs including Utah, Washington, Arizona, UCLA and Cal. Umana claims he'll visit SLC in December before making his final visit.
