It's going to be a busy January for Utah football. The action kicks off this weekend, as the Utes host a handful of high profile recruits on the first official visit weekend of 2017. With several openings still in play, Utah is pushing hard for several of this weekend's visitors, and the visit could set the tone for what the Utah staff does over the next two weeks. Today, UteZone breaks down this weekend's visitors and where they stand:
Considering: Utah, Michigan State, Syracuse
Notes: Extremely talented JUCO safety/linebacker prospect would add immediate depth to the Utah defense. Utah is considered the frontrunner at this point.
Considering: Utah, Texas
Notes: Speedy prospect has Utah and Texas in his final two. He was once committed to Houston before Tom Herman moved to Texas, and the Longorns are pushing for him. Utah needs to make a strong impression this weekend.
Considering: Utah, Kansas State, Oregon State
Notes: Former USC commit has the Utes in his final three. The talented linebacker is expected to visit his final three schools before making a signing day decision.
Considering: Utah, Washington, Cal, Arizona, Oregon State
Notes: Talented California lineman has Utah among his favorites. A decision isn't expected until shortly before signing day. Could potentially play offensive or defensive line.
Considering: Utah, BYU, Oregon, UCLA
Notes: Tofa is one of the better in-state defensive linemen in the 2017 class. He's considered a heavy BYU lean, but will visit Utah this weekend to take a final look at the Utes.
Considering: Miami Commit
Notes: Miami commit will visit Utah this weekend and Oregon next weekend before making a final decision. It's probably a long shot to expect the Utes to flip him, but they'll look to make a strong impression with the four star South Florida prospect.
UteZone will follow up with these prospects post-visit to get the latest on where they stand with their recruitment.
