Utah is going to need a lot of skill position athletes – QB, TB and WR – for this recruiting class to be a success. The highest priority appears to be at quarterback.<P>

Two of the top targets for the Utes are Michael Jones, QB, 6-3, 190-pounds, Fort Bend, Texas, (Austin) and Patrick Williams, QB/WR, 6-2, 195-pounds, DeSoto, Texas.

Jones really would like to go to play for Texas as a wide receiver, but the Longhorns have already secured four commitments from wide receiver prospects. So it does not appear likely that he will get his shot there.

"Oklahoma State and Missouri are up there on my list," said Jones. "Houston has been starting to come on lately."

Iowa State is another program that Jones will take a look at, but it doesn't appear that Utah is currently an option for him.

"It's really not me (Utah). I don't think I'd fit in there."

Williams is receiving attention from several high profile programs and his phone is already ringing off the hook.

"Louisiana State, Colorado, Utah, Iowa State, Purdue…," Williams said of a few of the programs that called him since the beginning of September.

Williams is a talented athlete that could play several positions. Does he have a preference?

"I'd like to stay on offense. But if the coaches think I can help them on defense that's OK too."

From the way Williams talked the Buffaloes are definitely going to be in the thick of the race, but Utah is definitely on his short list. Syracuse, Kansas State, Texas A&M and several other programs are also recruiting him.
