KRUGER TALKS ABOUT COMMITMENT TO UTAH

The Utes need a couple of versatile quarterbacks in this recruiting class to fully utilize the offense that is now being installed. One such quarterback recruit is now in the fold.

It did not take long for Paul Kruger, QB, 6-5, 235-pounds, Timpanogos, Utah to decide on the Utes. He committed to Utah head coach Urban Meyer on Sep. 1, the first day that college coaches could once again call prospects.

"The main reason I'm going to Utah is coach Meyer," Kruger said. "I just like his confidence. He expects to beat the big programs like Texas A&M. He has a lot of confidence in the offense he runs."

Kruger was also recruited by Oregon State, Oregon, BYU and Utah State. The Beavers also offered Kruger a scholarship, but he still felt more comfortable with the Utes.

"Playing in the Pac 10 would have been nice but, Utah is close to home and I think the program is on the rise."

"This is the perfect offense for me."

Kruger plans to go on a mission in February of 2005.
