Lee High School likes to throw the football around. That's why last year's signal caller, Drew Tate, is now playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He threw for 3,912 yards during his junior year alone at Lee.

Sometimes you just have to wait your turn. That is what Brian Johnson, QB, 6-2 1/2, 195-pounds, Baytown, Texas, (Lee) has been doing until this season.

"I have thrown for almost 800 yards in our first four games," Johnson said.

Lee is a big-time program with several prominent prospects every year. So Johnson has plenty of talent around him to run the high powered offense.

Since Johnson is a first year starter recruiting is not as hot and heavy as with some other prospects, but that does not seem to bother Johnson.

"Syracuse and Utah are recruiting me. That's about it right now."

Johnson's style of play definitely seems to fit both programs.

"I'm a dual-threat quarterback. I want to play quarterback (in college)."

Academics appear to be in order with a self-reported 4.0 and he will take the SAT for the first time on Oct. 11.
