Utah's biggest recruiting needs this year have been talked about over and over – skill position talent – most notably quarterback and tailback. Will the Utes be able to land one of the top tailbacks in Tennessee?

Just because a prospect is not a household name does not mean he is not a talented player. Case in point, Chad Pennington, the injured New York Jets starting quarterback played high school football in Knoxville. But the Vols did not recruit him and he ended up at Marshall. The rest is history.

So that brings us to Cassen Jackson, TB, 6-1, 205-pounds, Knoxville, Tenn., (Central). Never heard of him? Don't worry. It's par for the course. The Utah coaching staff has done their homework.

"Still shopping," Jackson replied when asked what schools he is most interested in right now.

So who is recruiting Jackson to date?

"Vandy, Utah, Colorado, Carson Newman, North Carolina, Duke, Marshall and Mississippi State."

"Vanderbilt and Carson Newman have offered me. I've got an official visit set up with Colorado in December, but I don't know the exact date. Utah wants me to come out, but we haven't set up an exact date yet."

Jackson describes himself as a power runner. So far this year Jackson said he has 840 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 98 carries six games. Central is currently 5-1 and could make some noise in the playoffs. That could alter Jackson's official visit plans.

Jackson has a self-reported 2.9 GPA and 17 ACT.
