Utah heads into Las Vegas for a dangerous match up with UNLV. Alex Smith has been on fire as of late, and he will need to continue to do so against one of the more athletic teams in the Mountain West Conference.

UNLV presents another potential stumbling block for the Utes. They are an athletic team with a lot of speed, and arguably the nation's top safety, Jamaal Brimmer.

Utah Running Game - The Utah running game has been effective all year long behind the powerful legs of Brandon Warfield. Warfield is averaging 122.7 yards per game; which is almost the total amount that the Rebels give up to their opponents (138.2). Something has to give. If the Utah passing game continues to thrive it will really help Warfield and the running game. Utah

Utah Passing Game - The Utes have been making a lot of big plays via the air over the course of the last three games. Alex Smith has been making really making good decisions and it is leading to points. Tight end Ben Moa is always good for a clutch catch or two, and look for him to get the ball a little more in this game. The Rebels defense will likely concentrate their efforts on Ute wide receivers Steve Savoy and Paris Warren. One thing is for sure, the Utes need to stay away from big-play safety Jamaal Brimmer. Smith must be cognizant of where Brimmer is at all times. Utah

UNLV Running Game - The Rebels struggled to get their running game going last week. Tailback Larry Croom is a talented performer; however, and he will make plays when given the opportunity. He will have a difficult time going over the century mark against the Utah defense. Look for Utah safety Dave Revill to play a big role in stopping the Rebel running game. Utah

UNLV Passing Game - The Rebels are due for a breakout passing game, especially after last week's poor performance against Air Force. Look for quarterback Kurt Nantkes to have a much better game through the air, hooking up with wide receivers Earvin Johnson and Michael Johnson early and often.

This is the one area the Rebels must dominate to have a shot to win. Most importantly the Rebels must be successful with the "home run" ball down the field. If not, they will likely struggle against a stingy red zone defense for the Utes.UNLV

Intangibles - The Rebels are coming off a disappointing loss and it is their homecoming to boot. If that does not fire them up enough the Utes have stolen the attention from everyone else in the Mountain West Conference with their fine start.UNLV
