Utes add hoopster

Utah has added another player to the class of 2007. They go to California to pull an intriguing combo-guard.

Carlon Brown has committed to Utah and gives the Utes a versatile backcourt player. Brown, who is from MLK High School in Riverside, California, is a two-star players who first turned some heads this past spring.

"Brown had impressive performances this past summer at the 2006 Reebok ABCD Camp and playing for Belmont Shore at the Reebok Big Time tourney and Pangos Cream of the Crop Challenge," said Belmont Shore coach Dinos Trigonis.

The 6-3 Brown can play either guard spot, as he can be either a scorer or distributor if need be.

Brown reportedly chose the Utes over Marquette, Nebraska and UNLV.

He may not be a household name in the recruiting scene, but he did play well enough to impress recruiting experts.

"Brown has a solid all-around game, with the ability to get his own shot and create for others," said Scout.com West Coast recruiting expert Greg Hicks. "He's a fairly good athlete and he showed a nice feel for the game."
