Despite a poor start, UNLV was able to rally and down the Utes 70-57 in Salt Lake City. The Rebels scored just nine points over the first 10:00 of the game but led by as many as 21 and handed Utah their worst home conference loss since 1992.

. The Rebels' leading scorer was playing with a broken jaw and shot just 1-12 from the field. Wink Adams picked up some of the slack, going for 17 points and 10 rebounds as the rest of the team made 11-17 three pointers.
Kevin Kruger scored 11 points, going 3-5 from behind the arc. Joe Darger came off the bench to knock down three of his four three-point attempts. Darger, a sophomore, played his prep ball at Riverton High School.
Three Utes scored in double figures lead by Luke Nevill's 15. Johnnie Bryant added 14 points, while Shaun Green added 12.
The Rebels opened the game making just 4-of-15 shots, but shot 55 percent after that. Runs of 15-0 and 16-0 proved to be too much for the Utes to overcome.
It is UNLV's fourth straight win over Utah and the 13-point margin of defeat is the worst in conference since the Utes lost by an identical score to Wyoming in 1992.
