Utes pull out win in double OT

The Utes have had their share of close games this season, most not going the way they had hoped. On Saturday things went Utah's way as the Utes pulled out a 93-91 double overtime victory over New Mexico.

In the second overtime Luke Nevill redeemed himself at the foul line to seal the win. The big man missed two free throws in the first overtime, but sank both of his attempts with just 2.4 seconds to play.

Nevill missed two free throws with 33.7 seconds left in the first extra session. New Mexico had a chance to win the game but Darren Prentice missed a long three pointer in the final seconds.

The Utes made a living in both overtimes at the charity stripe. All told Utah made 13-16 in the final 10:00 after regulation.

Johnnie Bryant scored 23 points for Utah, scoring 13 in a row at one point in second half.

Shaun Green had 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Green missed a three at the end of regulation that would have given the Utes the win. Prentis led all scorers with 28 points. Chad Toppert nailed six three pointers, finishing with 20 points. All told the Lobos hit 17-of-27 behind the arc.

The win halted a three-game win streak and aided the Utes' quest to avoid a play-in game to get into the Mountain West Tournament.

The Lobos lost for the fourth time in five games.
