UTEP Comes From Behind to Win Against Tulsa

For the second straight week, UTEP came back to win after being down to start the fourth quarter. UTEP erased a nine point deficit in the fourth quarter to pull out a 48-47 victory against Tulsa. Tulsa had a chance to win the game in the final seconds of the game, but Tulsa's Jarod Tracy's 53 yard field goal attempt went wide left.

UTEP overcame a two-score deficit for the second straight week and pulled out a tough victory against Tulsa in the fourth quarter. With only 53 seconds remaining in the game, Trevor Vittatoe threw a 14 yard touchdown pass to Joe West giving UTEP the lead for good.

Stars of the game:
UTEP
QB Trevor Vittatoe completed 21 of 27 passes for 319 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Vittatoe's 319 yards was a school record for a freshman.
RB Marcus Thomas rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries. Thomas has now rushed for over 100 yards in three straight games, this also was his second straight game where he rushed for 3 touchdowns in a game (another school record.)
QB/WR Lorne Sam completed just 2 of 2 passes for 32 yards, but one of those passes was a 22 yard touchdown pass to Jeff Moturi. Sam also had 83 yards rushing on 15 carries and 94 yards receiving with one touchdown reception.
WR Jeff Moturi had 7 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Moturi's longest reception was a 74 yard touchdown catch from Trevor Vittatoe in the third quarter. Moturi now has a 5 game touchdown scoring streak.
S Quintin Demps had 9 tackles and one key interception for a touchback. Demps now has 15 career interceptions, the most among active players in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Tulsa
QB Paul Smith completed 26 of 43 passes for 383 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Smith also rushed for 27 yards and three touchdowns on 10 attempts.
RB Charles Clay rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries, averaging 10.2 yards per carry.
WR Trae Johnson had 8 receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns.
LB Chris Chamberlain had 15 tackles and one forced fumble.

UTEP now has sole possession of first place in the Western Division of C-USA. The Miners next game will be homecoming against ECU, which now has sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division of C-USA, after a 52-38 win against UCF on Saturday.
