Alex Barr gets first offer

Alex Barr of Starrs Mill high school (GA) has picked up his first offer. Vanderbilt pulled the trigger and extended a written offer to the big offensive lineman on Saturday. Look inside to find out more about Alex Barr's new offer.

Alex Barr was told well over a month ago that he would be getting an offer from Vanderbilt. However, with the coaching change and the hiring of new offensive line coach Herb Hand, things were put on hold.

Last weekend Barr visited Vandy for the Northwestern game. "I thought Vanderbilt should have won," said Barr. At that game Barr was able to talk with Hand who told Barr to be checking his mail over the next few days. Sure enough, on Saturday, September 11th, Barr got what he had been waiting for: a written offer from Vanderbilt.

"I'm so excited, I thought it would never come," said Barr of his first offer. Barr is also excited that his first offer came from an SEC school.

Barr visited Kentucky on Saturday for their game with Western Kentucky. He also continues to hear from Middle Tennessee, Troy, Auburn and Georgia Tech.

Starrs Mill high school (3-0) is currently ranked No. 7 in Georgia's Class 4A and No. 25 overall. The ESPN network will have a camera crew at Starrs Mill this week.

Barr is unsure when he will make his decision. He wants to talk things over with his family, friends and his high school coaching staff before making his choice.
