VU offers talented defensive back

The Vanderbilt staff has offered a fine defensive back from the midwest area. The Commodores will have to fight off a Big 12 school that has also offered this talented prospect.

After years of seeing the area's top prospects hail from Hazelwood East High School, this year's distinction will belong to Hazelwood Central. Free Safety Nick Patterson has already gained two early offers, and more are surely on their way.

"I have offers from Missouri and Vanderbilt," Nick said. "I'm also receiving interest from Iowa, Arkansas, Wisconsin, UCLA, and Notre Dame. I will likely be attending Nike Camp and the Baptist Sports Medicine Camp at the Tennessee Titans practice facility."

Nick is a very good student with a 4.02 GPA. That intelligence carries over to the field at his safety spot.

What will the Hazelwood Central star be looking for in making his college selection?

"My mom does not want me to leave the area," Nick said laughingly. "I like the weather of Missouri, and don't want to go anywhere where it is much colder. I'll basically be looking for a school that has my best interests, and also has a good sports management program." Top Stories
