Profile 2004 - Shane Canterbury (OL)
It's hard to miss Shane Canterbury on the football field. He stands a whopping 6-7 and 345 pounds as a junior in high school. The spotlight will be on him at Pigeon Forge High School in Pigeon Forge, TN, and he and his teammates have a chance to make some noise this year on the football field.
"We went 4-6 last year," said Canterbury, "but we only lost something like four senior starters. We're a new school, and we only had six seniors on the team last year. I played offensive tackle last season and a little bit of goal line defense."
With Canterbury's size it is no surprise that he is receiving interest from some of the top schools across the country, and two of them are at the top of his leader board.
"I'm going to Tennessee and Michigan for summer camps for sure. Those are my two favorite schools right now. I've also been hearing from teams like Auburn, Virginia, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State."
Canterbury has an obvious advantage over nearly all of the players he faces on the field because of his massive size, but he said that he is more than just all bulk.
"I think I have pretty quick feet, good technique and a good attitude out there. I want to work on getting quicker and stronger this spring and summer at the camps."
He's already huge, and when he gets quicker and stronger, Canterbury is going to be a monster.
