Vandy seems to have it all for Geohaghan

One of the hottest prospects in the Palmetto State as of late is 2012 DB/LB Ronald Geohaghan (Allendale Fairfax HS/Allendale, SC). The 3-star prospect currently holds twelve offers from schools such as Clemson, Duke, ECU, Illinois, Kentucky, NC State, North Carolina, Pitt, South Carolina, Tulane, Wake Forest, and about a month ago Vanderbilt joined the pack.

"Last month, Vandy offered me and they were my eighth offer," said Geohaghan. "They got my film first and then they called my coach and said they were going to offer. I then talked to the coaches and that's when they offered."

Last season, Geohaghan missed the first part of the season due to an injury. He came back later in the season and the 6-1.5, 189 pound standout registered 97 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 6 sacks, and six forced fumbles. This came off of a successful sophomore campaign that had coaches like Wesley McGriff take notice when he was at Miami (FL).

"Coach (Wesley) McGriff was the one who offered me," Geohaghan said. "It kind of surprised me because Coach (Wesley) McGriff was at Miami first and he was looking at my sophomore film when he was there. I guess if he would have stayed at Miami then I'd probably have a Miami offer. But, after Coach (Randy) Shannon left I had no idea where he was at. I finally found out where he was when he offered me at Vandy, so I was kind of surprised."

Geohaghan also touched on the things that stood out about a school like Vanderbilt:

"First off, the high academics and the level of a degree at that school," he said. "Also, I like that they play in the SEC because it's one of the premier conferences in the country."

The Allendale native is in no rush to make a decision as he knows many schools are going to take a look at him when they make their spring evaluations over the next few weeks. While he is not ready to name any favorites, Vandy seems to have a lot of the things that he is looking for in a school.

"I don't have a list of top schools right now, because I am expecting a few more offers but maybe June or early July because I want to narrow down my list to a few," said Geohaghan. "I'm looking for high academics, a great coaching staff, and players that I can build chemistry with for the next four years of my life. I want to feel comfortable with the teammates that I am going to spend the rest of my time with." Top Stories
