Baseball: Vandy-Georgia halted due to rain

Friday night's baseball game between Vanderbilt and Georgia was halted in the top of the third inning due to rain. There was no score in the contest.

Game one of the series will resume Saturday at 11 a.m. Central. The second game of the series will follow 25 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Commodore shortstop Ryan Klosterman will be at second base following a two-out double when play continues Saturday. It was the second hit allowed by Georgia right-hander Sean Ruthven. Commodore sophomore left-hander Jeremy Sowers gave up a leadoff single to shortstop Justin Holmes, but then retired the next six Bulldogs.

Vanderbilt entered the Georgia series just half a game out first place in the SEC East. The Commodores' record stands at 22-20 overall, 10-11 in the SEC.

The Florida-Auburn series in Auburn, Ala. was also rained out so the Commodores remain 1/2 game behind the Gators. However, South Carolina held on to defeat Kentucky, 5-4, so the Gamecocks are now tied with Florida for first place in the SEC East.
