On the field, Dillon Mullis is one of the top football prospects from the state of North Carolina in 2004. Add in the fact that he is an excellent student, and it is no wonder many of the top schools throughout the southeast are after the Charlotte native.
DeaconSports spoke with Dillon Mullis
this past weekend to find out the latest with the Charlotte, North Carolina offensive lineman. Mullis told DeaconSports that he currently has six schools under heavy consideration – and two favorites.
"My top choices would be Wake Forest, UNC, Duke, UVa, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt," Mullis said. "I really like Vanderbilt a lot and Wake Forest a lot."
Which schools have shown Mullis the most interest early? "Wake Forest has shown me a ton of interest," Mullis said. "And then Vanderbilt. I spoke with the Vanderbilt coach today when he was at school." With schools like Wake Forest, Duke, and Vanderbilt near the top of his list, it is obvious that Mullis places a strong emphasis on academics. And he will be the first to stress that.
"Academics are the most important thing to me," Mullis said. "I would like to go to a little bit smaller school, something smaller with more one-on-one with teachers and small classrooms. I also want a real nice campus and it'll be very important how the coaches come off and talk to me."
Mullis, who attended Wake's junior day, will attend Wake's one-day camp this summer as well as camps at UNC, Florida, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.
