Vandy pursuing elite Alabama quarterback

Border Wars' Scott Kennedy reports on one of the top quarterback prospects in the South, Michael Darden of Albertville, Ala. Vanderbilt is among a number of schools the 6-3, 220-pound Darden plans to visit this summer.

Michael Darden is a big, strong armed quarterback from Albertville, AL. At 6-3 and 220 pounds, Darden looks the part as soon as he steps on the field. He has a strong accurate arm and a good release. He just returned from Alabama's camp, and he has several more on his schedule.

"I had a good time at Alabama," said Darden. "I got to work with Coach [Dave] Rader, and I really liked him. I'm going to Ole Miss this weekend, and I'm going to Georgia next week for a camp. I'm also going to Auburn, and I'm going to try and get to Vanderbilt."

After seeing Darden throw the ball live, I am also trying to get him to Las Vegas for the Elite 11 workout that will include 100 of the top quarterbacks in the country. Darden definitely belongs in that group.

Darden hasn't gotten a formal offer yet, but it's only a matter of time. He is receiving heavy interest, and he is a 3.9 Honor student.

"I like Auburn, Ole Miss, Georgia, and Vanderbilt has really been recruiting me too. I also like Southern Miss and Louisville. I'm pretty open though."

Darden is an excellent overall athlete that also excels at basketball and baseball for Albertville. Top Stories
