The Toreros have been on a quite a roll recently winning ten of their last eleven games. Their only loss in that spam was 4-3 defeat to Cal State Northridge, the Toreros avenged that with a 13-3 bashing two days later. Recently San Diego overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Lipscomb when Austin Green hit the game winning home run to put the Toreros up 4-3 in the top of the ninth.
Third baseman Kris Bryant leads the team with 23 hits and a superb .426 batting average. The sophomore has also knocked in 13 RBI's one home run.
Center fielder Louie Lechich is second on the team with 22 hits and .393 average. Collectively San Diego has a .352 average, while holding their opponents to just .241.
Shortstop Andrew Daniel leads the team at 17 RBI's and two home runs. The freshman has started all 14 games and while also leading the team in strikeouts makes up for it in hitting ability.
Senior first baseman Bryan Haar is batting .370 with four doubles, nine RBI's and nine runs scored.
Senior Corey LeVier is tied for third on the team with 20 hits. The left fielder has also knocked in 7 RBI's, a home run and three doubles.
Dillon Haupt has done an excellent job of commanding the pitchers this year who have a combined 3.10 ERA. The junior catcher is also batting .378 and leads the team with 15 runs scored.
Calvin Drummond (RHP) leads the team with 21 strikeouts and is 3-0 on the year with a 2.84 ERA. Drummond got the last Friday start in the Toreros 5-4 win over Cal Poly.
Senior Paul Sewald (2-0) has spent the most time on the mound for the Toreros with 21 innings pitched. The righty has a 1.71 ERA and 19 strikeouts, holding opponents to a .171 batting average.
Right hander Michael Wagner leads the team with seven saves in as many appearances. The sophomore holds a 1.54 ERA through with nine strikouts through 11.2 innings pitched.
Junior James Pazos has been excellent in relief with 20 strikeouts through 14.1 innings pitched. The left hander holds a top ERA of 1.26 in eight appearances this year.
Dylan Covey (RHP) is third in time on the mound with 17.1 innings pitched and leads the team with 14 walks and two batters hit. The sophomore holds a 2.60 ERA and 2-1 record and has given up a second most 15 hits.
Earlier in the week the Toreros handed Lipscomb a pair of defeats and will look to keep their five game winning streak alive over the weekend against the 'Dores. Vandy has recently shown some life against Rhode Island and will look to continue the home streak against San Diego.
