Centerfielder Austin Cousino leads the team in runs (44), hits (60), doubles (17), stolen bases (9) and batting at .345. The freshman leadoff hitter was recently selected to play for the USA Collegiate National Team and was named SEC Freshman of the Week for his two home run, six RBI, four run performance at Georgia.
Sophomore second baseman J.T. Riddle is hitting a solid .288 with 26 RBI's, nine doubles and four homers. Redshirt junior Cameron Flynn has had an outstanding year with 30 RBI's, nine homers and seven doubles. Junior catcher Luke Maile was named SEC Player of the Week for his six RBI, three double, and three home run series against Ole Miss.
Clean up hitting, first baseman A.J. Reed also puts in time on the mound as a southpaw with a 3.60 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched. The freshman is batting .311 with three home runs, 39 RBI's and nine doubles.
All-SEC 2011 third baseman Thomas McCarthy holds a second-best .329 batting average. The senior co-captain's 15 doubles, 26 RBI's and five homers help to make the Wildcats one of the top offensive teams in the country.
Left fielder Zac Zellers has notched eight doubles a triple and five homers. The junior earned SEC Player of the Week for his performance against Buffalo in the opening series.
Southpaw Corey Littrell (6-0, 2.51 ERA) was recently named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame National Pitcher of the Year Award watch list. The sophomore's 52 strikeouts in 61 innings are good for second on the team behind Grundy. In his latest matchup against LSU Littrell threw 5.2 innings with five earned runs and eight hits. Last year against Vandy Littrell gave up six runs in the first frame.
Lefty Taylor Rogers (4-2, 5.01 ERA) is the probable Friday starter for the Wildcats. The junior has a team leading 58 strikeouts through 55.2 innings pitched.
On Saturday junior Jerad Grundy (4-1, 4.24 ERA) who is holding opposing batters to .244, the lowest of the Wildcat starters will face off against the 'Dores. The lefty Grundy has struck out 39 through 51 innings. Follow @VandyManiacom
