Freshman Will Maddox leads the team batting .302 with eight doubles, one triple, one home run and 18 RBIs. The second baseman is 9 of 14 in stolen base attempts and has a team high 11 fielding errors.
Senior shortstop Zach Osborne is the only Vol to start all 44 games this year. Osborne is hitting .268 with eight doubles, 14 RBIs for the Vols.
Designated hitter Drew Steckenrider's 31 walks, five home runs and eight doubles are all team highs. The junior has thrown excellently in relief leading UT pitchers in strikeouts at 69 through 56 innings. The right hander holds a 4-4 record with an ERA of 2.25 while holding opposing batters to just .184.
First baseman Davis Morgan is .275 with six doubles, 1 home run and 15 RBIs. On the opposite in third baseman junior college transfer Zach Luther is batting .240 and is 7 for 8 in stolen base attempts.
Outfielder Chris Fritts leads the SEC with 11 sacrifice bunts and is hitting .257 with 22 runs, five doubles, two triples, two home runs and 24 RBIs. As a team the Vols lay down the second most sacrifice bunts in the conference behind Auburn.
Senior Chris Pierce leads the outfielders batting .271 with three doubles, two triples, two home runs and 19 RBIs. Freshman outfielder Jared Allen is hitting .203 with four doubles and 10 RBIs.
Catcher Ethan Bennett is batting just .187 with ten RBIs and two home runs. Last year the sophomore was 5-for-11 with a home run against Vandy.
Last Friday night against Auburn sophomore Nick Williams (2-4, 3.93) got rocked for six hits and five runs in just 2.2 innings. The righty has 43 strikeouts and three saves through 52.2 innings pitched. Williams looks to get the Friday night start in place of Godley this weekend.
Robbie Kidd (2-2, 5.01) is pegged to be the Saturday starter for Tennessee; the righty has 34 strikeouts in 50.1 innings. The freshman also had a bad outting by the hand of the Tiger bats, he allowed seven runs in the first 3.1 innings.
Tennessee's Sunday starter is still up in the air.
The Vols remaining two series are Ole Miss on the road and Arkansas at home with a midweek game against MTSU in between. With Vanderbilt's remaining schedule being a home series against Ole Miss and a road trip to LSU, this weekend is the 'Dores best hope at a road SEC series win. Follow @VandyManiacom
