Vanderbilt Weekly Recruiting Update

Davin Bellamy chose to go to a Florida school over Vanderbilt but another player decommitted from a Florida school in order to be a Commodore. Vandy also picked up the services of a Virginia linebacker.

8/11/2012 3-star linebacker Oren Burks commits to Vanderbilt. Burks had offers from Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Purdue and others. LINK

8/11/2012 3-star cornerback Tre Bell (Jersey City, NJ) decommits from Florida and commits to Vanderbilt. LINK

8/11/2012 4-star defensive end Davin Bellamy (Chamblee, GA) commits to Florida State over Vanderbilt. LINK

8/8/2012 2-star defensive end Mike Tyler (Broadview Heights, OH) was offered by Vanderbilt. He camped at Vanderbilt in July. LINK

8/8/2012 3-star defensive end Tyquan Lewis (Tarboro, NC) names Vandy in top five with LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, North Carolina. LINK

8/7/2012 Vanderbilt in contact with class of 2013 quarterback Reggie Bonnafon (Louisville, KY). Bonnafon is from Trinity high school, the same school that produced recent 4-star VU commit Ryan White. Bonnafon already has offers from Louisville and Illinois. LINK

8/6/2012 Vanderbilt was the first to offer 2013 cornerback Bryce Marshall (Lilburn, GA). Marshall spoke about Vandy to Scout.com's Chad Simmons: "I had a good time at their camp and I really like how Vanderbilt pushes academics to be first. They really want students more than just athletes up there. I have talked to Coach Bankins mainly, but I have talked some to Coach Franklin too, and I like both of them. I think they are an upcoming program too." LINK

8/5/2012 3-star OLB Rashawn Smith (Florence, AL) has Vanderbilt in his top 4 with Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Arkansas. LINK
