Chick-fil-A official impressed with Vandy

Chick-fil-A Bowl representative Ken Schick scurried out the press box elevator and headed down a corridor towards the Vanderbilt locker room. He wanted to talk with head coach James Franklin after the Commodores 40-0 blitzing of the Wildcats. However, briefly blocked from entering the Commodore team area by security, he had a chance to first speak with publisher Don Yates.

On Vanderbilt's performance against the Cats:

"They were very, very impressive. I mean they dominated from the beginning in all facets of the game. Except for the one hiccup at Georgia, they've looked good in every game."

Is the Chick-fil-A Bowl is seriously considering Vanderbilt as a participant?

"Absolutely. They are now 5-4 with three games left, they have a good shot at going 8-4. That's what I was here to see. I was here to see Vanderbilt and everything I saw was nothing but impressive."

On other teams the Chick-fil-A Bowl is considering:

"It's really hard to say. There's a lot of football left to play. We have to see what the other teams do. We pick fourth. We have the BCS, we have the two teams from the SEC going to the BCS bowls and then we pick behind the Cap One [Capital One], the Cotton and the Outback so we would see who is left after that. But Vanderbilt, especially if they can continue winning, they'll be in our mix."

Other comments:

"..Vandy has clearly turned the corner with their program.. our goal is to get the best possible game we can and Vandy, the way they are playing, they can play with anyone."

Schick later seen speaking with Vanderbilt Vice Chancellor for Athletics and University Affairs and Athletics Director David Williams and Associate Athletic Director of Student Athletics for Football and Baseball, Kevin Colon. Top Stories
