Webb: Vandy offense fits him well

Running Back Rapheal Webb of Gainesville (Fla.) High School has signed with the Vanderbilt Commodores. Look inside for a photo and quotes from Webb.

"It's a great feeling," said Webb. "Now I can just sit back and focus on college. The coaches [at Vanderbilt] are all real enthusiastic. That's my type of style too. The offense really fits me well. It's the same type of running schemes we do at Gainesville, so I already know a lot of what they're trying to do up there. It's just a great fit for me all-around. I think I'll be able to come in next year and earn some early playing time."

"After I signed, I spoke with my position coach, John Donovan. He was really fired up. I think he's out celebrating tonight watching the highlight film off all of the players they signed."

Webb had a ceremony at his high school surrounded by his mother, grandmother, sister, brother, aunt and friends. In the future, he'll be competing against Gainesville teammate, Chris Thompson, who signed with Florida. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound running back says he'll be ready to be on campus in June.
