Woods: Happy recruiting is over

Wide Receiver DeAndre Woods of Clay-Chalkville High School (Pinson, Ala.) signed Wednesday with the Vanderbilt Commodores. Look inside for a photo and quotes from Woods.

"It feels good," said Woods. "I was tired of the recruiting process and just ready for it to be over with. I'm so happy to be a future Commodore and can't wait to get started. My goal is to come in, work hard, compete, and help them win games."

"The coaches called me in the morning after I sent my letter in. They were excited and screaming. I talked with Coach Franklin, Coach Gattis, and Coach Pry."

Woods had a signing day ceremony at the auditorium of his high school at 1:45 p.m. with his mother, grandmother, aunt, uncle and cousins in attendance. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver was All-Birmingham Metro for the second straight year as a senior. He says he hopes to be on campus in May if possible.
