No. 3 ranked Vanderbilt swept rival Tennessee and routed local rival Midde Tennessee 12-3 to improve to 26-4 (8-1 SEC). The 8-1 conference start is the Commodores' best since 1972 when Vandy started the season 10-1.

The Commodores (26-4, 8-1 SEC) have plenty of weapons both on the mound and at home plate. Vandy hitters Vince Conde and Kyle Smith have each belted grand slam homers over the past seven days. Tony Kemp leads VU at the plate with a .375 average to go along with 19 RBIs and is 14-of-23 on steals. Connor Harrell is the top run producer for Vanderbilt with five home runs and 37 RBI through 30 games. Harrell has seven RBIs over the past three games. Mike Yastrzemski is 10-for-24 (.421) in the past five games scoring seven runs and driving in four more.

Kevin Ziomek has a complete-game shutout with a 5-1 record with 62 strikeouts and 15 walks. Tyler Beede is 7-0 so far with 44 strikeouts, 31 walks with a 0.99 ERA and a .151 opponent batting average. Brian Miller (4-0, 0.33 ERA, 8 saves) is on a pace to set the Vanderbilt single season save record. Steven Rice (LHP, 2.37 ERA) or Carson Fulmer (RHP, 3.86 ERA) are good candidates to pitch on Sunday if Philip Pfeifer is not utilized.

Vanderbilt as a team is batting .295 compared to its opponent's BA of .211. The Commodores pitching staff sports a 2.44 ERA while Vandy's opponents have a 6.54 ERA versus the Commodores.

No. 17 Ole Miss (23-6, 4-5 SEC) lost two of three at Florida last week. After winning the Friday night game with the Gators 4-3 in 11 innings, the Rebels failed to plate a run in the final two games of the series, losing 7-0 and 4-0. Stuart Turner (.413, 34 RBIs, 3 HRs) currently leads the team in multiple-hit games and multiple-RBI games. Turner has posted 15 multiple-hit games and 11 multiple-RBI games. Austin Anderson (.321, 24 RBIs) is second on the team in both batting average and RBIs. Preston Overbey (.305, 18 RBIs) and Auston Bousfield (.299, 14 RBIs) are tied for second on the team in home runs with two each.

Junior pitcher Bobby Wahl, who will face Kevin Ziomek on Friday night, is 12-6 during his Ole Miss career with 157 strikeouts against 129 hits and 60 allowed walks. Wahl, who has a career ERA of 2.84., was selected second team All-SEC following the 2012 season and competed on the USA Baseball National Collegiate Team in the summer. Junior Mike Mayers has struck out 25 while giving up 22 hits and 11 walks. Mayers, who gave up 15 doubles in 2012, has given up just three this season. Mayers will meet Vandy's Tyler Beede on Saturday night. Righty sophomore pitcher Sam Smith will meet a TBA Commodore pitcher on Sunday night. Smith (2-0, 3.51 ERA) has six starts and has given up 29 hits, 10 earned runs and 7 walks in 25.2 innings pitched while striking out 13.

Ole Miss as a team bats .286 while allowing opposing teams a .238 average. Ole Miss' pitchers have an overall 2.77 ERA while Rebel opponents have a 5.36 ERA versus the Rebels.
