Vanderbilt blazing through SEC slate

Vanderbilt pushed its winning streak to 14 games by beating UT-Martin 10-3 and then thrashing SEC newcomer Missouri 3 consecutive times. The No. 2 Commodores, who opponents are finding hard to figure out, may be getting even better. The development of several newcomers combined with the return of heralded pitcher T.J. Pecoraro from injury could make the Diamond Dores virtually unstoppable.

Tuesday: W, 10-3 vs. Tennessee-Martin
Friday: W, 11-5 Missouri
Saturday: W, 12-1 Missouri
Sunday: W, 16-4 Missouri

Tony Kemp: Batted .600 for the week. Had 6 singles, a double, a triple, and two walks for .600 average for week. Picked up 4 hits in Sunday's win.
Tyler Beede: (9-0) Beede continues to pile up impressive stats. This week he struck out 10 Mizzou batters while allowing no walks. Beede (1.07 ERA) has 60 strike outs on the season and at his current pace could pass Friday starter Kevin Ziomek (71) in total season strikeouts.
Mike Yastrzemski: Batted .286 for the week with 4 hits and two walks. Has a .313 season batting average.
Kevin Ziomek: Pitched 6 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 walks. Ziomek struck out 6 and still has a very respectible 2.19 ERA but hasn't been his sharpest the past couple starts.
Connor Harrell: Two home runs in Friday's 11-5 win over Missouri. Had four key hits and 4 RBIs in Sunday's win over the Tigers. Batting .314 on the season with a team leading 50 RBIs and 7 home runs.

Spencer Navin: 4 hits and 4 RBIs in Saturday's win over Mizzou. Batting .326 and has 21 RBIs on season.
Jack Lupo: 4 hits against the Tigers on Saturday. Batting .292 on the season.
T.J. Pecoraro: Pitched two solid innings versus UT-Martin and 3 strong innings in Sunday's win over Missouri. Pec's rehabilitation will be a key to Vandy's conference and national title hopes.
Kyle Smith: Just one hit for the week but it was a 2-run homer in Friday's win. Batting .286 on the season.
Rhett Wiseman: Batted .538 for the week with 7 hits and 2 walks. Season average is .286.
Tyler Ferguson: Winning pitcher in victory over UT-Martin after pitching a solid 5 innings. Season ERA at .333.

The Commodores' 14-1 start in league play is the best conference start ever. The Commodores sweep over Missouri was their third straight SEC sweep. That's the first time that's ever happened in Vandy baseball history. Vanderbilt's team batting average is .312 (opponents .209) with a 2.48 ERA (opponents 6.81 versus Vandy)
