LSU will pitch senior lefty Brent Bonvillain in the title game against Vanderbilt on Sunday. The Commodores will likely counter with sophomore left-handed pitcher Philip Pfeifer.

Bonvillain (4-0, 3.49 ERA) has no starts this season but has struck out 26 batters in 28.1 innings of relief work while allowing 27 hits, 12 walks and 11 runs.

Bonvillain, who transfered to LSU from Delgado Community College, most recently pitched 2.1 innings in LSU's 11-9 loss to Ole Miss on May 18. In that game Bonvillain gave up one hit and two walk enroute to allowing two earn runs. Previous to the Ole Miss appearance, Bonvillain pitched 2/3 of an inning in the 11-2 win over New Orleans on May 14. The lefty gave up a hit and two walks and two earned runs in his brief appearance.

During the 2012 season Bonvillain was named the SEC's Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the Tiger's 7-5 win over top ranked Florida. Bonvillain had one hit in four scoreless innings with one walk and five strikeouts.

Philip Pfeifer started 10 games this season and has allowed 28 hits, 27 walks and 23 earned runs while striking out 42. Pfeifer, a native of Knoxville who pitched for Team USA, struck out a combined 16 batters in wins over Belmont and Monmouth in February.
