Two more players committed to Vanderbilt on Friday and Saturday. Tre Herndon, a cornerback from Ooltewah, Tenn., (East Hamilton HS) committed on Friday while quarterback Trace McSorley Ashburn, Va., (Briar Woods HS) pulled the trigger on Saturday.
Herndon, who recently camped at Vandy and did well, returned to Vanderbilt yesterday and committed to the Commodores.
In addition to the Commodore staff, Herndon also had offers from Appalachian State, Memphis, MTSU, Northern Illinois, UAB and UT-Chattanooga.
On his twitter account, Herndon received a plethora of congratulations from well wishers after he committed to the Commodores (LINK). Last season the 6-0, 170 pound Herndon had 63 tackles, four interceptions and broke up 11 passes.
On Saturday Commodore fans received more good news when it was learned that Trace McSorley, who has led his team to three straight Virginia state titles, had also committed to Vandy. McSorley was in town for a VU camp when he made his verbal.
Last season playing for Briar Woods high school McSorley was a terror for opposing defenses. He completed 169 of 251 passes (67%) for 2,506 yards, 33 touchdowns and just six interceptions. McSorley, who runs a 4.5 forty, also ran for 745 yards and nine scores while averaging over seven yards a carry. He had six interceptions playing in the defensive secondary.
