Caleb Azubike was a key factor in Vanderbilt's defense consistently putting pressure on Florida quarterback Tyler Murphy. That pressure resulted in three interceptions returned deep into Florida territory. All three picks were converted into Commodore touchdowns.
Azubike provided two sacks in a 34-17 winning Vanderbilt effort. Incredibly, one of those was for a 26-yard loss late in the fourth quarter.
The defensive end from Nashville also earned four total tackles as the Commodores limited the Gators to 39 rushing yards.
So far this season Azubike has 25 tackles, four sacks and three QB hurries. Azubike also leads the Commodores in tackles for loss with 9 1/2.
Next up for Azubike and his Vanderbilt teammates is a visit from the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday at 11 a.m. A victory by the Commodores (5-4, 2-4 SEC) will make them bowl eligible for the third straight year.
Azubike named SEC D-Lineman of the Week
