Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright; The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light, And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout; But there is no joy in Knoxville — mighty Smokey has struck out. (Apologies to Ernest Thayer)

LAST WEEK (6-2)-----OVERALL (87-16)

It's a great week for SEC football fans. The Iron Bowl (Alabama vs. Auburn). The Egg Bowl (Mississippi vs. Mississippi State). The Golden Boot (Arkansas vs. LSU). The Governor's Cup (Georgia vs. Georgia Tech). The toilet bowl (UK vs. UTK).

Clemson @ South Carolina – Clemson beat Georgia back when Georgia was healthy. They should be able to handle the Gamecocks. Clemson 32 – SC 29

Florida State @ Florida – Georgia Southern???? GEORGIA SOUTHERN????? Florida State 45 – Florida 13

Tennessee @ Kentucky – The bottom of the SEC East playing for none of the marbles. Both teams just want this season to be over with, but UK wishes it a lot more than Tennessee. UTK thinks they let the game, and a bowl, slip away against Vandy and will have something to prove. The Mildcats just want to get on with basketball season. It is inconceivable that UTK would lose this game. Tennessee 35 – Kentucky 7

Georgia @ Georgia Tech – Tech has one of the great fight songs in college football. Unfortunately, the football team does not live up to the song. Even a banged up and backup QB Georgia will handle them easily. UGA 32 – Ramblin' Wreck 14

Texas A&M @ Missouri – This game will be better suited as a track meet. The over/under is 66. Take the over. Missouri won't be able to handle Johnny football, but will A&M be able to handle James Franklin? I don't know, but it sure will be fun to watch. Aggies 45 – Mizzou 42

Arkansas @ LSU – Nothing like ending the season with a mismatch. LSU 35 – Razorbacks 14

Mississippi @ Mississippi State – Mississippi has shown that they are not yet ready to beat the elite teams of the SEC. Mississippi State has repeatedly demonstrated that they are not one of the elite teams of the SEC. The Bears will wear down the cowbells with their hurry-up, and win the in fourth quarter. Mississippi 31 – Mississippi State 24

Alabama @ Auburn – The immovable force and the irresistible object are one and the same…..Alabama. Auburn has had a good, no, great run, but the reality is that the Tide is the better team. Alabama 27 – Auburn 17

Wake Forest @ Vanderbilt -- Vandy hasn't seemed to play up to its potential yet this season. It's time. Wake may come out full of fire and give Vandy fits. They may come out like some of Bobby Johnson's Senior Day teams and sleepwalk through a disaster. James Franklin will have Vandy ready regardless. 1-0 this week. Vandy 35 - Wake 21 Top Stories
