Canty Mason's first commit

All the gloom and doom is over now for Vanderbilt. After losing several committed prospects, Vandy has now gained the services of 6-foot-4 wide receiver Rashad Canty of Riverdale, Georgia.

News of the commit was first broken by VandyMania's Stan Jones who was the first to tweet the good news. Canty had previously committed to Appalachian State but backed off after he heard Mason was Vanderbilt's new head coach.

Jones says that Canty's coach told him that Canty committed to Mason immediately on-the-spot after meeting with the new Vandy skipper.

Jones says that Canty's coach said he reminds him of Jordan Matthews because of the way he goes after balls.

In addition to Vandy and App State, Canty had offers from Boise State, Tulane, Southern Miss, Wake Forest, UAB, Troy, Georgia State, MTSU and South Alabama.
