Cole Hardin: We are getting a better coach

Offensive lineman Cole Hardin of Florence High School (Florence, Ala.) signed with Vanderbilt on Wednesday. Look inside for a photo and quotes from Hardin.

It was a great experience" said Cole Hardin. "We had 11 guys from Florence sign and I think that proves this was a special group of seniors. My whole family came to support me. It was a good day.

"In June when I committed to Coach Franklin, he was the reason why I committed because he sold me on Vanderbilt. All of those reasons were still there even though he left. It's a top-notch school for education and athletics. I think we're getting a better coach with Coach Mason. I had an in-home visit with him on January 24th. We went out to a restaurant. I think he's a great football coach. He put together his staff so quickly. They've been coaching together for years and you can feel their chemistry. You can tell they're meant to coach this team together. I'm happy to be a part of it and I'm looking to go in and make an immediate impact."

Hardin, 6-foot-4, 298-pounds, was a four-year starter at Florence. He played left tackle for the Falcons, but was recruited by Vanderbilt to play either guard or center. Hardin was named first team All-State as a senior and served as a captain in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic. Top Stories
